Kuska is a Quechua word that means union or together.

Kuska School is located within an organic orchard on Inca terraces in the town of Ollantaytambo, halfway between Cusco and Machu Picchu.

There are currently 54 students attending the school, 24 at the initial level and 30 at the primary level. Their ages range between 3 and 11 years.

45% of our students are from the town of Ollantaytambo and surrounding peasant communities. The other 55% are from Lima, the city of Cusco and some foreigners.

The student to teacher ratio is ten to one. We have four full-time teachers who work with Kuska, two at the preschool level and two at the elementary level. The main teachers have assistant teachers and the school hires additional staff for music, languages and productive workshops.

The school is promoted by the Kuska Association, which has a Board of Directors made up of four partners and an advisory council of four members. Aima Molinari is the director of the board while Guillermina Sánchez is the academic director.

Kuska School receives about forty percent of its income from tuition and contributions from families, the rest of its operating costs come from fundraising events and generous contributions from individuals, businesses, and other organizations.

The monthly cost per student is S/. 500 ($ USD 132) and the annual fee is S/. 5,700 ($1,500 USD)

The Kuska Association is a learning community dedicated to empowering the next generation of global citizens to transform the world around them for the common good.

Kuska School is an active educational community based on affection and respect for the diversity that accompanies each person. Its pedagogical proposal seeks to attend to each individual in a comprehensive manner so that they can develop in harmony with themselves and with their environment.
