VOLUNTEER TESTIMONIALS
My fellow teachers taught me a lot about education, childhood, development and teamwork. Kuska is a unique school where children grow in mind, body and spirit. Students can be children while still learning at the national level and standards for education. Children learn through a rigorous and dynamic project. The curriculum is established by highly trained teachers. Students connect with the land, the Inca culture, and each other while learning subjects like math, reading, writing, science, languages, music, dance, gardening, movement, and more. Teachers tailor their curriculum based on student needs rather than students being forced to comply with school expectations. The school also places a strong emphasis on family. Many members of the community can find a community of caring and supportive educators that they can trust. Kuska receives no government funding to sustain itself but relies heavily on donations and a small tuition from students. They believe so strongly that this school should be accessible to all children regardless of their income, therefore each family pays on a sliding scale based on their income. I feel so blessed to have been able to learn from everyone at Kuska throughout my time at your beautiful school. Teaching English to 40 extraordinary little human beings was a experience that I will never forget. I was able to witness a completely new holistic education method that I have never experienced before. Students who graduate from Kuska are not only prepared for high school but also for life. Consider supporting this school so that they can continue transforming the lives of all more young people in the Ollantaytambo district.“
